About UsThe Neyland Ladies Choir was formed in 1977 and currently has 40 choristers from the Neyland, Milford Haven, Pembroke and Haverfordwest areas.
The choir has become well known throughout Pembrokeshire by the varied style of concerts performed and have established close links with other Ladies and Male Voice Choirs in Wales and England. The President of our choir, Dr Simon Hancock, was responsible for composing the words to our own Neyland Anthem, which we regularly perform at local events. The previous President was Lord Parry of Neyland, who had been the choir’s President for 18 years. It was through Lord Parry that strong links with the premier choir of Wales, Cor Meibion de Cymru, were forged and we had the opportunity, on a number of occasions of performing with this choir. Particular highlights were:
"The Neyland Ladies Choir is a superb example of the many good things that have come out of Neyland" (on the occasion of the choir's 20th anniversary) During 2012 we celebrated our 35th anniversary culminating in a grand concert at the Torch Theatre in Milford Haven with the Pembroke Male Voice Choir and local guest artistes.
The choir was a member of the National Association of Choirs, which has now ceased. As a member of the former Welsh Association of Ladies Choirs we joined other member choirs from South Wales for performances in:
The most memorable occasions were a glorious performance in front of the Prince of Wales at Cardiff Castle commemorating the 50th Anniversary of VE Day and the “Songs of Praise for the New Millennium” broadcast by the BBC at the Millennium Stadium, Cardiff. We are always happy to accept performances to help charitable organisations raise money for their much needed causes.
The choir has recorded three CD’s entitled “Our Kind of Music”, “Down by the Riverside” and “A Grand Night for Singing”. If you are interested in purchasing copies, or wish to obtain further information about the choir, please go to the contact page. |
